MISSION

The Finishing Trades Institute of the Mid-Atlantic Region is dedicated to creating a highly skilled, educated and safe workforce built on quality, pride and progressive training.  “We are where apprenticeships meet academics and training builds careers” by linking apprenticeships and skilled training with academic standards and sustainable careers.  As the Official Training Provider of District Council #21 we are committed to educating and training our apprentice and journeypersons to ensure the success of our various trades and our contractor associations.

PURPOSE OF FTI-MAR

The FTI Apprenticeship Programs purpose it to prepare the Coatings Applicator (CAS), Commercial Paint, Drywall Finishing, Glazing and, and Multi-Craft Decorator apprentice to meet the present and future demands of the industry. The FTI provides a unique learning environment to prepare our students with state-of-the-art classroom and lab spaces. The FTI uses a competency based training model; as recommended by the U.S. Department of Labor. We use a time proven model of related classroom theory training and hands-on activities to achieve the academic excellence for which we have been recognized for. Because of its learning model, based on Organizational Development, Leadership, and Team Building principles, the FTI students are responsible and effective communicators whose abilities to learn quickly and lead effectively have increased jobsite productivity and moral for the contractors for which they work. Additionally, besides it’s nationally recognized apprenticeship programs the FTI purpose is also to provide continuing education courses to our journeyperson’s in order to remain a progressive, innovating and advancing workforce
